San Diego Padres left fielder Jurickson Profar is out of the hospital and resting after a collision with a teammate resulted in a concussion and a cervical strain, the team announced Friday.
Profar, 29, was injured when he and Padres shortstop C.J. Abrams collided in shallow left field in the fifth inning of a game Thursday night. While Abrams was able to make the catch, his knee hit Profar in the head/neck area.
After being attended to by trainers, Profar stood and began walking off the field before he collapsed to the ground. He was then loaded on to a stretcher and carted off the field. The Padres later announced that he was transported to a local hospital.
