The New York Yankees are beginning to embrace a youth movement in their infield, or so it would appear.

On Sunday, the club announced that top prospect Anthony Volpe, 21, will make the team’s Opening Day roster. While the Yankees have yet to officially turn in their first lineup card of the season, Volpe’s presence on the roster strongly indicates that he will work the team’s starting shortstop upcoming.

The Yankees confirmed the major roster call by posting a video of manager Aaron Boone informing Volpe that his strong spring had secured him a spot on the big league team.
